One week georgia tour
Day 1: Arrival, Airport Transfer – Old Tbilisi
Arrival at Tbilisi International Airport. Meet your local tour guide and transfer to the Hotel. After you settle in a cozy hotel room, we will have an Old Tbilisi tour. Starting from Metekhi Plateau, the tour guide will make you familiar with the history of the country and its capital city. After the introduction, you will take a Cable Cart ride to 4th-century Narikala Fortress, from where a pleasant walk in the old narrow streets of Tbilisi will lead to a small waterfall in the district of Baths.
You also will visit such places as Sioni Cathedral, Synagogue, Mosque, a 6th Century Anchiskhati church, we will see the underground tunnel at Gorgasali Square, Gabriadze Theatre, etc… After a few hours of walk, our transportation will take you back, or you can simply walk to the Hotel since our accommodations are located in the city center.
Day 2: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Shio Mgvime – Tbilisi
In the morning, meet your tour guide at the hotel lobby and our destination for the day is the first capital of Georgia, Mtskheta. Mtskheta has always been a spiritual center of the country. Here we will visit 6th-century Jvari Monastery and 11th-century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, both of the churches have an amazing history. From here, another marvelous monastery complex, Shio—Mgvime will be our next destination (20km away from Mtskheta).
This place is extremely beautiful, though it’s not much visited by tourists. Monk Shio was one of the 13 Assyrian Fathers who came to Georgia to preach Christianity in the 6th century. Also in Mtskheta, you can taste local delicious Georgian food. In the evening we come back to Tbilisi and leisure time.
Day 3: Tbilisi – Telavi –Tsinandali – Gurjaani– Bodbe – Sighnaghi
In the morning meet your tour guide at the hotel lobby and on this day you will visit the wine region of Georgia, called Kakheti. Besides the vineyards, the region is famous for its beautiful nature where mountains and valleys lie down together. First, through Gombori Pass we drive to the capital city of Kakheti, Telavi. Telavi is located at an altitude of over 800 meters, therefore the city has great scenery of the Caucasian Mountains. Here we will visit the museum and see a fortress where a King’s residence was located.
Following this, not far away from Telavi, we have another stop to the village Tsinandali, to see the former estate of 18-19th century public figures in Georgia. After Tsinandali, we will go to another Kakhetian town Gurjaani. In Gurjaani we will visit a Winehouse, where the delicious traditional Georgian cuisine awaits us.
From here we will head to our final destination – to a beautiful small town Sighnaghi, which is also known as one of the most romantic towns in Georgia. However, a few kilometers before Sighnaghi we got to make another stop at a marvelous Bodbe Monastery, where the body of ST. Ninos is buried. From Bodbe, you can enjoy beautiful views of Alazani Valley that stretches at your feet. In the evening we can walk to the lovely streets of Sighnaghi and check out its 17th century stone wall that guarded this place against enemy invasions. Overnight in Sighnaghi.
Note: All Kakheti Tours have Wineries visit as an option. Wine cellars and wine tastings can always be added to the program if requested by our guests.
Day 4: Sighnaghi – Ananuri – Gudauri – Kazbegi (Stepantsminda)
In the morning, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and on this day we will drive to the Great Caucasian Mountains, Kazbegi region. Before we achieve our final Destination we will see Jinvali water Reservoir, 17th century Ananuri Complex and Gudauri ski resort. In Kazbegi region, we will stop in the village Stepantsminda and will drive up to the mountains in order to visit the 14th century Gergeti Trinity Church.
The pictures taken at this place is definitely going to be your profile picture on social networks). After Gergeti, we can visit the newly built Dariali Monastery (Optional, depends on the time), which is located right at the Georgian – Russian border. This day will be full of excitement, lots of photo stops and breathtaking landscapes at the height of 2,400 meters from the ground.
Later, enjoy the evening from the beautiful terrace of your hotel while gigantic mountains set a relaxing mood. Overnight in Kazbegi.
Day 5: Kazbegi – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Borjomi
In the morning your tour guide will be waiting for you at the hotel lobby, we will drive down from the mountains and head towards Uplistsikhe – an ancient town carved in the stone mountains in 4th century BC. Tourists are always thrilled by the mystical surroundings of this place. After some hiking and beautiful scenery, the trip can continue to Joseph Stalin’s hometown Gori, where we can visit the Museum of Joseph Stalin (Optional). From here, we will drive south of Georgia to our final destination of the day, Borjomi.
Borjomi is world-famous for its mineral waters, they are natural mineral springs that flow from the ground. Those mineral waters are perfect for the health, it cures stomach pains and its the medicine for the people with intestines problems. During Soviet times, Borjomi was one of the famous destinations for people with health issues.
(If there is enough time, we’ll visit Borjomi Central Park on this day, if not, it will be postponed for the following day). Check in to the hotel and Leisure Time.
Day 6: Borjomi – Rabati – Vardzia – Tbilisi
In the morning, as usual, meet your tour guide and we start our long day by driving to the historical city Akhaltsikhe, to visit Rabati Castle. This fortress has a very diverse and interesting history, so you will have a separate tour in Rabati by qualified local guides. They will give you detailed information about the place and will explain to you the history of the region itself.
From here, our next destination and probably the highlight of the day will be Vardzia Caves. Vardzia is another marvelous complex curved in the stone mountains starting from the 12th century. Since it is located at one of the most strategic spots, this place had military purposes, it controlled and defended the country against enemy invasions from the south. Many great battles took place at this valley. For visitors, it is definitely one of the favorite places in the whole country.
In the evening, after the Vardzia tour, we will head back to Tbilisi and by this time your one-week Georgian tour is almost complete. Check in to the Hotel and enjoy your last night in Tbilisi.
Day 7: Departure – Transfer to Airport
Meet your driver in the hotel lobby. Transfer to the Airport.
